7 Blogs Every Content Marketer Should be Reading

Latest Blog Post

As a content marketer, you know how important it is to get ahead of the curve, and see what your peers are thinking, doing, advising, and warning.

The problem with this is that you’d need about 10 more hours each day to check out all of the blogs out there that promise to give you the information and insights you want.

In light of this, below we suggest 7 blogs that every content marketer should be checking out regularly and religiously:

  1. Leap Clixx

OK we realize that this looks really self-serving. But you know what’s worse than self-serving? Deception. We do things honestly here at Leap Clixx, and we authentically believe that our blog is worth reading -- and the ongoing feedback we get from content marketers validates this. And yes, some other inbound marketing firms that try (and fail) to copy our stuff, but that’s not a big deal to us. As they say, imitation is the most sincere form of flattery.

  1. HubSpot

HubSpot has several excellent blogs geared towards different themes, such as inbound marketing, SEO, paid advertising, and so on. The posts usually have some good graphics/infographics as well.

  1. Ecommerce Platforms

Ecommerce Platforms is an unbiased review site that shows the good, great, bad, and ugly of online store building software. They also feature a great weekly “must read articles” section that, as you might have already guessed, includes (believe it or not) must-read articles.

  1. Content Marketing Institute

Like a lot of content marketers, we’re fans of Joe Pulizzi’s Content Marketing Institute. There’s some good case study material here, and it’s a helpful source for stats as well. Keep up the good work, Joe!

  1. CMO.com

CMO offers executive-level insights into a variety of marketing topics and concepts, including (but certainly not limited to) inbound marketing. It’s frequented by senior marketers around the world, and even though it’s owned by Adobe, there’s never any product pushing and the advice is vendor neutral.

  1. Content Marketing Insider

Content marketing insider has some good “how to” stuff, and there are plenty of categories to explore, from content writing through to management, deployment, analytics, and so on.

  1. KISSMetrics

Analytics and testing are a big part of inbound marketing, and KISSMetrics has an excellent blog that covers this angle. We frequently refer to KISSMetrics statistics in our blog post, ebooks, etc.

A Final Note…

We could have made this list MUCH bigger. There is a lot of excellent material out there to help every content marketer, regardless of whether they work for an agency, fly solo, are part of an in-house enterprise team, and so on. However, we think that the above 7 provide a solid foundation, and cover key zones on the marketing landscape (inbound, online, print and conventional). Enjoy!
