Quick: name a search engine. I’d bet my weekly salary that you named Google, and why wouldn’t you? It’s still the world’s biggest and most widely-used search engine, and it’s also the default search engine on every Android smartphone. Google runs the world, which is why every business website it trying desperately to rank more highly in its results.
Since you’re probably on this quest as well, allow me to provide a little help. Here at Leap Clixx, we’ve seen every trick in the book when it comes to Google. Our clients have tried dozens of different strategies to rank more highly, some of which are more successful than others. If you’re struggling to rank more highly, be sure to avoid these three mistakes:
Not posting content often enough
I know what you’re thinking: I’m blogging three times a week and my articles are good, isn’t that enough? Unfortunately, it might not be. Although updating three times per week is really good, it’s not ideal. Research has shown that sites that update blogs daily have higher traffic numbers. Not only do more articles increase your number of indexed pages, they also make your site seem more relevant – Google loves new content!
Your content isn’t what your buyer personas want
Writing so much content can be challenging, especially if we don’t get to write what we want. I’m sure you’d like to give me your thoughts on a variety of subjects, but is that what’s going to bring the people in? You have to give your prospects what they want. When you created your buyer personas, you should have fleshed out these hypothetical individuals pretty well. You know what they want to read – give it to them! In the end, the best blog article we can write is the one that attracts the most visitors, so give the people what they’re looking for.
You have made some “key” errors
Keywords are another vital component of these campaigns, and you have to ensure you’ve selected the correct ones. These keywords should be the terms your personas are using most often to find your products/services. But beyond selecting the correct ones, you’ve also got to utilize them appropriately. There should be at least one keyword in every blog headline, and they should also be sprinkled throughout every article. Keywords are how people will find your content online, so be sure to include plenty of them.
